ALL YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT PRIVATE HEALTH INSURANCE

What Is Private Health Insurance

Private health insurance can be taken up by consumers by paying a monthly premium for individuals or families. There are various advantages that private health insurance provides and below are just some of the reasons why consumers should be taking up one.

Advantages of Private Health Insurance

Choices! Choices! Choices! You have more choices with a private health insurance.

You can cater the coverage to your specific needs. For example, group health insurance does not usually come with maternity coverage. If this might be important to you, not only can you opt for the coverage but you can also decide upon the level of the coverage.

Besides adding on to the coverage, you can also choose to drop any options or cover that you deem unnecessary. This can help reduce your premium quite significantly.

You also get to choose the deductible and the copayment of the insurance plan. By choosing a higher deductible (must be within your financial limits), you also get to bring down your premium. You can also choose to bring down your monthly premiums by eliminating items that are needless for yourself or the family in the plan.

One big advantage of private health insurance as compared to employer sponsored group insurance is that your coverage is valid and yours as long as you pay the premium. Hence the insurance coverage for yourself and your family is independent of external circumstances like job, unemployment etc.

Disadvantages of Private Health Insurance

Private health insurances are more stringent in their conditions of acceptance. Consumers have to undergo health checks and some pre-existing conditions may render a person ineligible for private health insurance for those conditions.

Private health insurances also base their premiums on age. Hence the premiums will rise gradually in correlation with the consumers’ age. Hence it is critical to review the private health insurance cost annually and decide if maintaining the private health insurance is the best choice for you.

Private health insurance may also be less comprehensive than group health insurance. Hence often, consumers will find that conditions and treatments (such as maternity) once covered by their private health insurance are no longer valid.

Ways To Get Your Private Health Insurance

There is a variety of choices out there for private health insurance and consumers can search online for the best plan for them with optimal coverage at a reasonable cost. For some consumers, it might be better to enlist help of trained professionals who can suggest the best private health insurance for them based on their needs.

Those apples must have been to green cause they made me want to vomit.

Thanks for pointing out the TRUTH!!

  2. Mr Wolf (You can't handle the truth!) says:

Of couse limitations on malpractice lawsuits. ( got to look out for the insureance companies)

**You are wrong, Tort reform has been failed by both dems and republicans over the years. This is a good idea.

"Pools" of insurance. It would let states, small businesses and others group together to offer lower-cost, health care plans. Such pools would have to offer, at a minimum, any coverage that is provided in a majority of states.

    **Good.
Medicaid transfer. It would allow Medicaid users to take the value of their Medicaid benefits and transfer/apply those to a private health care plan instead.

***Gives a choice and would improve quality. Many doctors that take medicaid are sub standard and only take medicaid because they are not the brightest bulb in the sign. I think people on Medicaid should have a choice of their doctor, currently they do not(within limits)

Boosting of health care savings accounts. It would increase incentives for people, especially those in lower income brackets or over 55, to build up HSAs.

***Great idea, the patient is invested in saving money for the account. I worked in the ER and often we had some patients that came in EVERYDAY of the year. I am not exaggerating EVERYDAY. ER CARE IS 2X MORE EXPENSIVE THAT AN OFFICE VISIT.

Automatic insurance. It would encourage employers to sign up their workers for health insurance automatically, so that employees would have to "opt out" of coverage if they didn't want it.

    ***+/-

This Republican alternative bill also contains several health care ideas that are increasingly championed by both parties.

Longer coverage for youths. It would allow dependent children to stay on their parents' policies until they are 25.
***I guess this is OK,, I was on my own at 18 and I think this is part of what is wrong with America, people are not responsible enough.

Promotion of wellness at the workplace. It would encourage employers to reward employees for improved health.

***Great idea, as a nurse I would go for 8 hr without a bathroom or meal break. I would have loved to have gone for a walk to decrease stress.

    Expansion of community health centers.

***Yes they are working in my Community and working well. They unburden the ER's and Doctors offices, they provide walk in for the lower income areas that do not have the transportation.

Mobile health care. It would allow Americans to maintain their specific health insurance policies when they lose or leave jobs.

***That was suppose to be the goal of the first healtcare portibility but it didn't even come close. Good idea.

In-home care. It would provide financial help and encourage more in-home care over institutions.
**** i worked home health and this is a huge problem for patients and families, home health can only come after the patient has been in the hospital and can only come for a short time. This leaves the family exhaused and frustrated. The patient ends up in the nursing home which costs more and they care is often substandard.

I think the Republican alternatives would result in cost savings and happier people.

thats one pissed off Step mother. !. you shoudn't have ask for the money back. 2. If her ankles were sprained 6 months ago, they should be okay by now. 3. New jobs are hard to come by and you cant ask for time off so soon after getting it. She, your step mother, is a very volitable person it seems. She is on a rampage, your fater is caught in the middle. Why is she milking the "sprained ankles, saying you're jepordizing your fathers health and Angela heath? If they don't make the trip in time, they should offer to pay it back. You need to talk to your father and explain how you feel to him. Good luck

I’m not sure what the guy was getting at when he mentioned talking to a doctor about blood pressure medication. Hypertension, if inadequately treated, is a killer. It can cause heart failure and/or strokes. Surely, talking to a GP about the best way to treat it is a sensible way to go.

  5. karozans says:

@enterintoexit Whatever you say Mr. I believe everything you say. Europe good, USA bad. Socialism good, Capitalism bad. You good, me bad.

    Did I leave anything out?

  6. karozans says:

@enterintoexit Ah yes. The typical liberal, socialist, foreigner response. Insult and then tout that your system is so much better.

Funny how Europe is such a shit hole in almost every aspect when compared to the US. But I am sure you are happy with it.

  7. enterintoexit says:

@karozans and you’re a complete dolt who, like so many that have commented here, can’t see past gross generalizations and absurd comparisons.

  8. hey says:

    Your question cut off.

Well it sounds to me like she's being extremely defensive at having to pay you back. Unless she gave you something in writing, she really doesn't have to.

Just tell them that because you spent so much money on their tickets and never showed up, that they will have to pay for their own tickets. That was really stupid of you to spend so much money with no guarantee. I think you're trying to pass it off on them. But they are equally to blame for not appreciating what you did for them.

Anyway, like I said just tell them they have to use their own tickets. Meanwhile, use the tickets yourself for a much needed vacation. Talk to the airline and see if you can exchange them for somewhere like the beach or something. At least you'll get your money's worth that way.

  10. hey says:

It would help if we had some idea of who these people are. This sounds like a step daughter who is mad at you for something that couldn't be changed. If this is the case then just stop communicating with this girl, let her father do it. She sent that email to you because she can't get mad at her father the way she can rip into you. So don't let her. Make her father deal with it.

  11. MediBid says:

I work for a company that is trying to put the free market back into the health care system and LASIK will always be our favorite example of how prices drop and quality improves as soon as patients stop spending someone else’s money. When it really feels like your own dime, you’ll find the best value for that dime.

  12. karozans says:

@tomol57 Good God. I think if tomorrow all the rich people moved to Antarctica and took their money with them; people like you would put a pistol in your mouth and pull the trigger because you would no longer have anyone to blame for all of your shortcomings.

If you hate the wealthy so much either stop giving them all of your money when they tell you that the next iPhone is better than your old one or become a rich person and give all of your earned money away.

Damn!!!! You are a cry baby.

  13. karozans says:

@migkillertwo Never underestimate the power of stupid, lazy liberals. Provide them all the information in the world and they will still vote to give themselves $1,000 per month as apposed to putting forth a little effort and earning $4,000 per month.

  14. enterintoexit says:

@karozans I hope life is good in your bubble, away from the ‘liberal, socialist, foreigners,’ especially when it all goes to hell. I say when, but it’s a reality now. Europe is a big place, yet you’ve somehow managed to lump it together into one entity and generalised it as ‘shit’ – congratulations! Go look at the socialist Nordic countries and how accusingly awful they are (if by awful, you mean the statistically happiest places in the world).

  15. enterintoexit says:

More competition means businesses need to eventually cut their costs to compete. Increasing quality is going to mean increasing costs. We see this everywhere; the cheapest and best selling products are the ones that have cut the most corners in production. Do you really want ‘made in china’ style health care?

Ultimately making health care a business means MONEY MATTERS not HEALTH and PEOPLE. Look at government-run health care in Europe and tell me it doesn’t work.

  16. Confused?! says:

Hon you aren't being irrational at all. You definitely need some you time, everyone does. Now if your friends turn their back on you then they aren't your real friends. However, don't let that reflect back on you. Just because someone else can't, won't, or is just too lazy to help you out… doesn't mean your a bad person for thinking you can expect them to help you, or that you can't make good friends. However, it sounds like you have a great fiance, and you should feel like you can always go to him. Also you may want to consider a therapist, i have had friends go to them, and they have really turned their lives around too. Don't be embarrassed about going to one though. If someone judges you for getting help, then they aren't even worth listening to or bothering with. Just keep your head up, keep moving forward good luck, and i hope things turn around for you.
