Obviously, or maybe not, it's going to be WAY cheaper for the employer to pay the fine, than to purchase health insurance – because typically an employer does NOT pay 85%. If you're lucky, they'll pay 50%, but the requirement will be that they pay more – at least 75% of the total cost.
What it means, is employers have a choice – they can pay (for a family plan) an extra $800 a month (or more) per employee, or an extra $167 a month in taxes to the government – heavily offset by the amount they USED to be contributing towards the employee's health plan.
In other words, the law says, IF an employer wants to continue group health insurance, it's going to cost them a WHOLE LOT MORE, but they can save money, a LOT of money, by dropping the plan and just paying a much smaller amount to the government. It's a MAJOR incentive to get employers to STOP offering group health insurance.

I'd give up my Social Security benefits tomorrow if they want to scrap the program. I don't want to see future generations strapped with the debt load that our government (Democrats and Republicans, take you pick of which scum you prefer) is deferring for the sake of staying in power.
I do not agree with your unacceptable part! If President Obama was really concerned about health care reform, he would have talked about Tort Reform!! But then he would have alienated almost every Democratic Lawmaker, since they are MOSTLY lawyers. Instead of choosing a REAL debate on health care, he chose politics instead of integrity! He is not leadership skills that we need for this type of debate. So, your argument is based on half–truths… Medicare & Medicaid are destroying Gov't finances. Universal health care was tried in Hawaii (I believe for children) and failed because it cost too much. Why did not Gibbs bring this up during one of his press conferences. If people need free health care, they can always join the military!! But, in order to have this debate, we need more information and not so many special interest groups like the lawyers that Obama happens to be one!!
